Spay/Neuter Collaborative of KC to host community wide clinic this weekend - By Mar'Che Boggess11/7/2023 As Featured in The Pitch10 local animal welfare organizations are teaming up to host a community wide spay and neuter clinic this Sunday, Nov 12.
Fix ‘Em KC, Great Plains SPCA, Humane Society of Greater Kansas City, KCK Animal Services, KC Pet Project, Lawerence Humane Society, Midwest Animal ResQ, Northland Animal Welfare Society, Pet Resource Center, and Wayside Waifs have come together to form Spay/Neuter Collaborative of Kansas City (SNCKC). Through this collaborative effort, they hope to tackle the crisis of pet overpopulation in Kansas City head on, first by alleviating the stress that can come with spay and neuter surgery costs. “The pet overpopulation crisis is evident in so many animal shelters being at or over capacity with the causes ranging from over-breeding to meet the COVID companion demand, a shortage of veterinarians, evictions, hard economic times, the high cost of pet care and misconceptions about spaying/neutering. SNCKC is in a position to combat several of these challenges and reduce the number of animals that end up in shelters,” says Great Plains SPCA CEO Tam Singer. SNCKC has scheduled over 350 appointments across the Kansas City metro area at no cost to the public where you can bring your dogs, cats (yes, even your outdoor community cats) to be spayed and neutered. Heartworm preventatives and discounted rabies vaccines will also be available at the event. Clinics will be held at the facilities of SNCKC organizations and times will vary based on location. Note: all spots at KCK Animal Services have been filled.
